Health risks of white bread

White bread is created using bleached or enriched white flours. These flours have had their important B vitamins and proteins stripped in order to create a product that is more palatable for the average consumer. Luckily most of us already know that white bread can be a questionable decision.

Which Bread Is The Best For Your Health?

Whole wheat, pumpernickel, gluten-free, rye… Well the most important aspect when you look for bread is the fact that the bread should be 100% whole grain. Usually you can see this percentage on the front of the packaging, but if you notice the following labels: multigrain, wheat or contain “x” number of whole grains, believe it or not it might be a white bread in disguise.

Why 100% whole grain? Well first of all, whole grains are an excellent source of fiber, which helps in the prevention of colon cancer or any heart disease. Let’s not forget, you need fiber to make you feel full for a long period of time, meaning that you will eat less through the day and maintain a healthy weight. Plus whole grains are full of vitamin B and protein as well, so you will get the nutrients for a youthful skin and protein for great hair.
